Unapologetically You: Full Moon in Aquarius, Lions Gate & the Power of Discernment

“The truth isn’t always what’s trending. Trust your light, not just the noise.”

“You witch your way,” my friend Val says, and it always brings me back to center.

Because we live in a world teeming with spiritual noise—where every calendar date becomes a portal, every cosmic event a viral moment. And while I love ritual, resonance, and mythic meaning, I also believe in discernment—and in choosing your own magic, your own rhythm, your own timing.

So let’s take a breath together.
Let’s look at what’s real, what’s useful, what’s aligned.
And let’s start with what’s in the sky.

🌓 The Moon is Full in Aquarius

This Aquarius Full Moon rises just after peak Leo light. And if Leo is the sovereign—the one who shines boldly from the heart—Aquarius is the rebel, the visionary, the one who says: “Shine however you damn well please, even if no one else gets it.”

These two signs sit across from each other on the zodiac wheel, forming a spectrum of personal radiance and collective belonging. They ask us:

  • How do I stay true to my uniqueness and feel connected to the whole?
  • Where do I shine for myself?
  • Where do I shine for others?
  • How can I belong without becoming a clone?

Leo gives us the courage to express ourselves fully. Aquarius reminds us that difference doesn’t mean disconnection. In fact, when we show up in our weird, wonderful, authentic selves, we often discover the very communities we’ve been longing for.

🦁 But What About Lions Gate?

Ah yes. The 8/8 portal. Sirius rising. Infinite power. DNA activations. Light codes. The works.
The internet is lit up with declarations of portals and abundance and quantum timelines.

Here’s what I think:

Lions Gate is powerful if it means something to you.
If it inspires ritual, reflection, or intention—amazing.
But don’t feel pressured to perform someone else’s portal.

The heliacal rising of Sirius is astronomically real—and was sacred to the Egyptians. But the modern Lions Gate (especially tied to 8/8) is more symbolic than sky-based. It’s a product of spiritual remix culture: some numerology, some astrology, some ancient wisdom, and a whole lot of modern myth-making.

And that’s not bad!
But it does ask us to be awake. To think for ourselves. To feel our way into what’s actually true and resonant.

My dad used to say, “If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a cat have?”
Answer: Four. A tail is not a leg, no matter what you name it.

Calling something a portal doesn’t make it so.
But if you feel an opening—follow it. If you feel a flood of light—drink it in. Just remember: you don’t need a trending term to validate your magic.

🧙‍♀️ A Ritual for the Full Moon

(and for Yourself & Your People)

You don’t need fancy tools. Here’s what I recommend:

Light a candle or stand in the moonlight. Say:

“I honor the light in me that is different.
I honor the ways I don’t fit—and the spaces I do.
I celebrate my brilliance. I celebrate my weird. I belong to myself.”

Then ask:

  • What part of my light have I been hiding?
  • Where am I trying to conform instead of create?
  • Where do I need more discernment?
  • What makes me feel free?

Write it down. Burn what you’re ready to release. Keep what you’re ready to claim.

🌊 And if you’re lucky enough to gather with others—do that too.
Whether it’s moonlight at the beach with a few mama friends and wild kiddos, or a late-night call with your favorite mystic misfits—ritual multiplies when we do it together.

You don’t need it to be perfect. You just need it to be authentic.

🌌 Remember This:

  • You are your own portal.
  • You don’t need to perform your magic. You just need to practice it.
  • Your difference is part of your design.
  • You don’t have to believe everything you think—or everything you read on Instagram, or anywhere else.
